Find it on Fourth: Halloween Spirits & Schemes

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble…

Halloween is just a few days away, so grab your broomstick, sharpen your fangs and get ready for a spooky season to remember on Fourth Street.

First off, the quintessential part of Halloween is the candy. This is the decider between whether you’re the best residence in the neighbourhood or a fuddy-duddy who doesn’t want to spread cheer to a cavalcade of Minions, Spidermen and miscellaneous creepy crawlers.

If you’re looking for fun sweets (and a few snacks for yourself, of course), Circle K and Happy Together Food Store are reliable choices to make you the coolest Halloweeners on the block. However, if you’re looking to kill two birds with one stone, Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart and Dollarama are ideal for grabbing a few wacky and wonderful decorations to liven up your home before anyone stops by for parties, trick-or-treating or just to say ‘boo’.

Halloween is also commonly known as a chance to get all your friends over for a little gothic-themed debauchery, so pick up the beverages of your choice at Bin 905 Wine & Spirits, J&J Liquor or Mission Wine & Liquor Merchants to make sure your themed-cocktails go down a treat as spooky season ensues.

That being said, what’s a party without a pizza? Pick up your party foods from Fourth Street Pizza, Blaze Pizza, Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria or Uncle Fatih’s Pizza.

Not a fan of the post-party cleanup? Lucky for you, there’s tonnes of places to stop by and enjoy Halloween without your home looking like the end of a horror movie. Unicorn on 4th is hosting ‘Harry’s Haunted House’ - a One Direction/Harry Styles-themed party designed for ‘everyone who never really grew out of their Directioner era.’

Elephant & Castle, Blowers & Grafton and Joyce on 4th are all incredible places to unwind and get a little silly without having to stray out of Fourth Street, while Ducky’s Pub & Restaurant is the perfect place to try The Monster Mash, sing your heart out to Wicked or tell the crowd Backstreet truly is back.

Missy’s This That is also an incredibly cool and cosy hole-in-the-wall which will add an element of class to your Halloween plans, whether they include a quick cocktail or howling at a full moon.

If we’re going to discuss Halloween, it’s only fair to give a shout out to the people who can bring your costume goals to life. Whether you’re a blood-drenched serial killer or a Doctor Seuss character, you’ll be able to bring your fangtastic fantasies to life with Beltline Barbers, Citizen Salon Studios, Etch Hair Design, Executive Main’s Hairstyling, FM Hair & Estehetics, Mission Barbershop, M Salon or Salon Bowie.

If you’re going to commit to the bit, now’s the time to go all-out on your nail art! Exquisite Nails & Spa and Uptown Nail Boutique & Spa will bring your character to life in fantastical ways without breaking the bank.

Even better, there are places where you can find your entire outfit… and it’ll be completely unique as you step out onto the town. Spots such as Article Apparels, Kept Clothing Collective and Fieldstudy can be the perfect place to find inspiration and create an off-the-cuff costume like no other.

Stay safe, stay warm, and have a Happy Halloween from all of us on Fourth Street!
