No matter what the weather, we’ve got a host of dog-friendly business who are more than happy to welcome your four-legged friend with a smile, some water, and maybe even a treat if they’re lucky.
Alongside our Fourth Street Pup Club - which gives details on all the cutest canines in the area alongside exclusive discounts and deals - we’ve put together a list of the best hound-friendly hotspots on the street to make your next walk a little more exciting.
At risk of sounding Millenial, it’s awfully hard to start any day without a good ol’ cup of joe. I Love You Coffee Shop and Jara Cafe are more than happy to welcome your dogs with a smile and some water, while Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters and Starbucks Coffee might even help you out with a pup cup if you ask nicely.
La Boulangerie Bakery Cafe and La Creperie The Bakery are also beautiful spots to unwind with your woofer, while close by, Joyce on 4th and Unicorn on 4 are great places to unwind if you’re looking for something a little stiffer, or pick up something on the way home with a quick trip to Mission Wine & Liquor Merchants.
Now you’re caffeinated and ready to get your steps in, try Marlow Floralworks and let your dog take in amazing scents from one of the city’s best florists, all produced locally, right here in Alberta. Just in case you want to find out a little more about the flowers - or you fancy a little intellectual time on your scroll - Shelf Life Books are always keen to keep our Fourth Street dogs happy and hydrated, while up the street UltraWhite Clinic keeps a bowl out for any pups braving the Calgary sun this summer.
Sustainability is a really important factor in keeping the world healthy, not just for ourselves, but for our pets too. Without Co. has everything from wool balls for dogs, to treats which can keep their tails wagging as you potter down Fourth Street. They even sell a 1000-piece puzzle featuring 45 rescue dogs as a celebration of all the pups who found their forever homes.
If you’re more of a post-work dog walker, there’s no shortage of places to stop by and grab a bite to eat while you’re en route. Vin Room (which is directly beside a large dog mural) Seed N Salt, Shokunin, and Hana Sushi are all dog friendly businesses more than happy to see your furry friends on their travels… and if you’re looking for something for your dog, PAWSitively Natural Pet Food & Supplies sells everything from toys and treats to wet/dry foods and pet CBD products. Snoop Dogg would be happy to hear that one.
