Find it on Fourth: Family Fun

Summer has well and truly arrived in Cowtown, but it won’t last forever. Now’s the perfect time to make some fun memories with your kids, nieces, nephews or younger siblings with a fun day out on 4th Street.

Luckily for you, we’ve compiled the ultimate list of where to go, what to do and how to make the most of your time on Fourth before the blistering winter of Alberta begins once more.

So, pack some water and prepare for a sugar high - kids’ day out is a go!

Summer is the perfect time to treat yo’self, and you best believe kids these days enjoy a little sweet treat just as much as you do (even if you don’t like to admit it). Abbey’s Creations is the perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, with ice cream and top-tier coffee to keep your energy high as you saunter down Fourth Street… and if coffee is on the cards (for you, less so the kiddos) try Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters or Starbucks Coffee for everything from ice-cold Americanos to your go-to-multi-hyphonate frappuccino, or stop by I Love You Coffee Shop for a one-of-a-kind insight into the world of music as the store continues its collaboration with Inner Ocean Records.

Let the education continue with a visit to Shelf Life Books- which houses a boatload (or store-load) of books from local Albertan artists -  or if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous to satisfy your young one’s taste buds, Royaltea’s flavourful bubble tea combinations might be just what you need.

Likewise, Purple Perk and La Creperie The Bakery have loads of sweet and savoury snacks to choose from, providing the ideal cafe experience from the comfort of your favourite street in the city.

What’s a trip downtown without a little retail therapy? Maude Kids Decor has everything from clothing and toys to decorations to keep your kid’s spirit (and fashion sense) growing as they continue their way down Fourth Street. For the thrifty kids among us, there’s also Kept Clothing Collective, where you can pick up something for yourself along the way.

After all that shopping, it’s time to grab something with a little more substance to eat. Of course, there’s no lack of choices on Forth Street, but factoring in the occasional picky-eater can be a little more tricky. Red’s Diner is a must for your brunch needs, as is OEB Breakfast Co., while local joints including KOKOCUPS, Fourth Street Pizza, Seoul Fried Chicken and Class Clown Hamburgers provide the perfect comfort food for your day out with the kids.

Finally, art is literally everywhere across Fourth Street. Don’t forget to take some time to enjoy the murals, street art and weird and wonderful installations as you make your way down Fourth!

So, hit the street while the sun is still shining. We can’t wait to see you soon!
